  • GOA-ON Webinar: Global Ocean Acidification Indicators and the NOAA strategy for Carbon Dioxide Removal Research, 2 August 2023

We are pleased to let you know about the upcoming GOA-ON's webinar co-hosted by the North American Hub on "Global Ocean Acidification Indicators and the NOAA strategy for Carbon Dioxide Removal Research". The webinar will take place on 2 August 2023 at 15:00 UTC. Registration form is available here: https://unesco-org.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_elOwglVnRgu2IgbTJIFjkg#/registration

    Speakers:

    Dr Liqing Jiang

Dr Li-Qing (Liqing) Jiang is an Associate Research Scientist at the NOAA Cooperative Institute for Satellite Earth System Studies (CISESS) of the University of Maryland. Currently, he serves as the Task Leader of the Ocean Carbon and Acidification Data System (OCADS). His research focuses on global carbon cycling and ocean acidification, with particular emphasis on data management, quality control, synthesis, and the development of ocean acidification indicators.

    Dr Jessica Cross

Dr Cross is a research scientist that works at the interface between the research and engineering communities to develop new tools to explore how our oceans support sustainable development and contribute to climate risk management. As an oceanographer with NOAA, she leads the agency's Carbon Dioxide Removal Task Force and manages the carbon system observing, research, and development for the Alaska and Pacific Arctic regions.

    Moderator:

    Dr Richard Feely

Dr Richard A. Feely is a NOAA Senior Fellow at the NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory in Seattle, Washington. He also holds an affiliate full professor faculty position at the University of Washington School of Oceanography. His major research areas are carbon cycling in the oceans and ocean acidification processes. He is a member of the Global Ocean Acidification Observing Network Executive Council.

The IOCCP promotes the development of a global network of ocean carbon observations for research through technical coordination and communication services, international agreements on standards and methods, and advocacy and links to the global observing systems. The IOCCP is co-sponsored by the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO. Read more…
