The 25th Anniversary Annual Meeting of the North Pacific Marine Science Organization (PICES) will be held from November 2-13, 2016 in San Diego, CA, USA. PICES welcomes abstract submissions from a wide range of topics contributing to the 18 sessions and 10 workshops included in the program. There is financial support for early career scientists and researchers from developing countries to attend the symposium.
Deadline for Early Registration, Abstract Submission, and Financial Support Applications is June 20, 2016.
Background
Building on the foundational results from the past 25 years of PICES existence, we now embark on the next 25 years of PICES that should lead to better observations, improved understanding of mechanisms of change, and ultimately better predictions of status and trends in North Pacific ecosystems. Forecasting the effects of natural and anthropogenic change, especially climate change, will allow adaptation based on the ecological, societal, and economic resilience of our coasts and oceans. Increasing resilience is a key societal challenge and will only be possible with increased scientific knowledge of the North Pacific and intergovernmental collaborations like those developed within PICES.
