We would like to draw your attention to CommOCEAN 2016 - the 2nd International Marine Science Communication conference & high-level training workshop, to be held in Bruges and Ostend (Belgium) from 6 till 8 December 2016. The organisers encourage the submission of abstracts from all areas of science communication with a special focus on the ocean, marine and estuarine realm.
Abstracts for posters, oral presentations or a 1-hour workshop can be submitted until 1 June 2016 at the latest. Registration will also open on 1 June 2016.
About the Conference
The CommOCEAN 2016 event is targeted at a wide audience ranging from marine scientists keen to be speed-trained in modern ocean science communication skills, to communicators working for a marine institute, NGO or governmental body. The conference programme combines hands-on exercises in current science communication skills for disseminating ocean research and technology, with plenty of expertise-sharing, social interaction and fascinating marine science along the way.
CommOCEAN 2016 is a unique opportunity to make a major leap forward in communicating your ocean knowledge. The Conference is organized by: Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), the European Marine Board (EMB) and EMB Communications Panel, as well as the International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (UNESCO-IOC-IODE). The organizers are developing an inspiring, innovative and interactive programme consisting of two separate events: a 2-day conference in Bruges (6-7 December 2016), followed by a 1-day high-level training program at the InnovOcean facilities in Ostend (8 December 2016).

The call for contributions (orals, poster, workshop) is now open for the 2-day conference. Three presentation formats are applicable for CommOCEAN 2016:
