  • European Integrated Carbon Observation System (ICOS) 2nd Science Conference, 27-29 September 2016, Helsinki, Finland
  • European Integrated Carbon Observation System (ICOS) 2nd Science Conference, 27-29 September 2016, Helsinki, Finland

The European Integrated Carbon Observation System Research Infrastructure (ICOS RI), an organisation of eight founding member countries and 100 greenhouse gases measuring stations aimed at quantifying and understanding the greenhouse gas balance of the Europe and neighbouring regions, will hold its 2nd Science Conference in Helsinki, Finland, on 27-29 September, 2016. The 2016 ICOS Science Conference will gather scientists from all over the world to discuss the timely topics in the greenhouse gas research, biogeochemical cycles, climate change and future research challenges after COP21.

Abstract submission deadline: 01 June 2016

This year’s Conference will address some of the key topics in the greenhouse gases and biogeochemical cycles research grouped into 5 themes:

    • Theme 1: From local to global scales: Relevance of regions and hotspots on greenhouse gas cycles
    • Theme 2: Long time series, experiments and modelling
    • Theme 3: New development in observation techniques and new scientific questions
    • Theme 4: After COP21:  Challenges towards globally integrated observations and independent evaluation

    • Theme 5: Communicating Climate

The Scientific Programme Committee consists of the following members:

Werner Kutsch (Chair), Nina Buchmann, James H. Butler, Christoph Gerbig, Samuel Hammer, Martin Heimann, Truls Johannessen, Dario Papale, Leonard Rivier, Alex Vermeulen, Rik Wanninkhof

If you are an early career scientist, make sure to check out the ICOS Early Career Programme that will take place during the conference. Main Early Career Workshop will be held on 29th September.
