We would like to inform you that the Colour and Light in the Ocean from Earth Observation (CLEO) workshop: Relevance and Applications Products from Space and Perspectives from Models, co-organized by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML), will be held on 6-8 September 2016 in ESA’s Centre for Earth Observation (ESRIN) in Frascati, Italy.
Abstract submissions are open until 15 June 2016.
The workshop is open to all interested parties including remote sensing experts, marine ecosystem modellers, in-situ observers as well as users of Earth Observation data for the ocean and scientists analysing the planetary carbon cycle for climate research.
The main objectives of the workshop are to discuss new developments and key science issues related to ocean colour products and their use to improve ecosystem models, and to define a Scientific Roadmap for the exploitation of the Sentinel-3 and other ocean-colour data for various applications ranging from scientific to operational.
Following are the major topics for the workshop:
- Ocean-Colour Applications for Climate Studies.
- Light Field in the Ocean: Primary Production and Ocean Dynamics.
- Non-Chlorophyllous Components of Ocean Optics.
- Pools of Carbon in the Ocean.
- Phytoplankton diversity at global and regional scales
A preliminary programme will be available in July 2016.
